VAMOSC requires 128-bit Encryption Web Browser

For security purposes, VAMOSC now utilizes 128 bit encryption. Some users may receive an error if their internet browsers do not support 128 bit encryption. Please update your browser as necessary so that it supports 128 bit encryption.

What is the difference between 128 and 40-bit encryption?
128-bit encryption provides a significantly greater amount of cryptographic protection over 40-bit encryption. 128-bit and 40-bit encryption refers to the size of the key used to encrypt the message. Roughly speaking, 128-bit encryption is STRONGER (309,485,009,821,345,068,724,781,056 times) than 40-bit encryption. 40-bit encryption is not considered "strong" security in the cryptographic community.

How do I find out if my browser has 128-Bit encryption?

If you have Netscape…
Netscape Navigator for Windows lists its security level in its Help menu, under "About Netscape". In the Mac version, it is listed under the Apple icon. In the section marked "RSA Encryption", a sentence in bold describes either "US" or "International" security. The US refers to 128-bit and International to 40-bit or 56-bit encryption.

If you have I.E….
Internet Explorer lists the security in its Help menu, under "About Internet Explorer". Next to the section marked "Cipher Strength" it will say 128-bit if you have the 128-bit secure browser.
